Orange Community Players is a community theater dedicated to providing quality non-professional theatrical performances in Orange County. As an all-volunteer organization we could not make these shows happen without YOUR help and we appreciate your interest in auditioning.

Performances will be July 24-27 at Orange High School in Hillsborough. Auditions will be May 5th, 6th, and 10th with a new process this year. Details are below.

Audition Information
Auditions for Seussical will follow a new process, including the opportunity to sign up for an audition slot to avoid long waits on audition nights. However, it is not required to sign up for a slot and we will have walk-in spots available at all audition times.
Auditions will be May 5, 6, and 10 at the Bonnie B. Davis Environment & Agricultural Center at 1020 US 70 Highway West, Hillsborough, NC. If you (or your child) would like to audition, please follow these steps:

4. Prepare your audition
- Please prepare 32 bars of a song that is in the style of Seussical. Bring a musical track for accompaniment. Bring your phone or other device to play this track.
- Come prepared to learn choreography and wear clothes that you can move in. Wear shoes that are closed-toe shoes. Please, no flip-flops or sandals.
- Be prepared to list any conflicts you might have between the auditions and closing night.
- It is not necessary to prepare a monologue. We will provide you with selections from the script to read during the audition.
Posting of Cast List
The cast list for the show will be posted on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ocpnc/) and on this website. We will email each individual auditionee with casting information. Please check your email and our Facebook page regularly during the week after your audition.

Frequently Asked Questions
This is my first audition. How can I prepare?
We love to have people who are new to musical theatre join our productions! Please do not feel intimidated by the audition process, especially the music. Seussical includes a variety of musical styles, ranging from Latin to pop, swing to gospel, and R&B to funk. However, you are welcome to sing anything, from “Happy Birthday” to your favorite Broadway solo. Please email [email protected] with any questions.
How much does it cost to participate?
A $35 Participation Fee is required for cast members in this show. This fee includes one (1) comp ticket to the opening performance. The maximum fee any family will pay is $70.00 ( i.e., One Family Member: Fee: $35 / Two Family Members: Fee $70.00 / More than two family members $70.00). This fee will be due at the first Cast Meeting.
Cast members age 13 and older and parents of cast members ages under age 12 are also required to sign up for at least 8 hours of volunteer work, in addition to Load In and Strike. Non-participation may result in the cast member being cut from the cast. Cast members and/or parents who take a leadership role on a committee will be refunded their cast participation fee.
Where will rehearsals be?
Rehearsals will be May 12-July 12 will be at the New Hope Camp and Conference Center, located at 4805 NC-86 South, Chapel Hill, NC 27516. After load in, all rehearsals will be at our performance location, Orange High School.
When will rehearsals begin?
There will be a mandatory cast meeting on Monday, May 12. Rehearsals will begin May 13, and cast members will receive a full rehearsal calendar at the cast meeting.
When are rehearsals?
A full rehearsal calendar will be shared at the cast meeting, but rehearsals are typically Monday-Thursday, from 6:30-9:00pm. and Sundays from 2-5pm. Rehearsals are usually later during tech week. Not all cast members will be called for every rehearsal, and you will receive regular updates about which cast members and scenes will be called at each rehearsal to plan your time.
Where will the shows be performed?
The show performances will be at Orange High School, 500 Orange High School Rd, Hillsborough, NC 27278.
When are the performances?
Performances will be July 24-27. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday shows will be at 7pm; the Sunday show will be at 2pm and followed by mandatory strike for all cast members and parents. There will also be a cast party the evening of July 27th.
What if I have conflicts with rehearsal dates?
Conflicts are not allowed after July 14th, but any known conflicts should be listed on your audition form. If you have other conflicts arise, please contact the stage manager as soon as possible.
