Board of Directors

The Orange Community Players (OCP) Board of Directors is a group of volunteers who manage the business and affairs of the organization. The Board is the final decisionmaker on expenditures, shows to perform, and all other OCP activities. The Board must have at least 5 members per the OCP Bylaws, but ideally 9 or more members will serve on the Board at the same time.

Board members agree to help create a culture of community, kindness, and professionalism, to understand and uphold the Minors and Youth Policy, and to serve in support of our mission.

Deryl McGuire

Founder

Deryl has been an active member of the community of Hillsborough since she moved here in 1968. She was the theatre teacher at Orange High School for many years, and is very active in numerous civic organizations, including Triangle Luncheon Civitan and Hillsborough Exchange Club. In 2005, Deryl and a few other residents decided that Hillsborough needed a theatre group to provide outstanding theatrical entertainment to the community, and so founded Orange Community Players. Deryl has been married to her husband Mike for 60 years and has 3 beautiful children, and 3 fantastic grandsons. She is  proud and appreciative of Orange Community Player’s productions and the continued community support.

Megan Hughes

Co-President

Megan Hughes has been involved with OCP since the production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever in 2012 and has been on the board since 2022. She has worked in various backstage and production roles for shows including Seussical, Annie, and The Music Man. Megan’s favorite thing about OCP is watching intergenerational casts become family and create beautiful things together. When Megan is not managing OCP projects she is managing environmental science projects at Duke’s Superfund Research Center.

R. Davis Boss, Jr

Co-President

R. David Boss Jr. has been involved with OCP since the production of Seussical in 2015 when he stepped in to play The Grinch. David has been on the board since 2022. He has been working on or off stage for every OCP summer musical since. He has directed L’il Abner (2016), Oklahoma (2018), Beauty and the Beast (2022) and The Music Man (2024) for OCP. David has designed the lights for every OCP summer show since 2016. His favorite memory of OCP was having his whole family, including his wife, son, and daughter work with him in Oklahoma. During the day, David can be found in his home office as a Staff Engineer for Synapse Health.

Todd Cayton

Secretary

Todd Cayton first found OCP as an audience member when he moved to Hillsborough and saw the performance of Beauty and the Beast in 2022.  The following year, he traded his aisle seat for a spot on the stage with Willy Wonka. Since then he has been in The Music Man and Seussical. He has been the  props coordinator for three summer shows and directed the Hillsborough Haunting Hour.   He has been a member of the OCP board since January 2024.  A former teacher and school system administrator, Todd now teaches educators across the country on brain-based reading instruction.  An avid fan of live theater, Todd can often be found in the audience of many community, regional, or broadway productions.

Ginger Fox

Treasurer

Adam Canosa

Adam Canosa first became involved with OCP in the pit as a clarinetist for Oklahoma and Annie. As the music teacher at Hillsborough Elementary School for the past 14 years, he has encouraged many of his students to participate in local theater classes and performance opportunities. He is also the founder of Algorhythmic Labs, an edtech company working to scale a music literacy platform he developed for his students. He enjoys spending time with his kids, cheering on the Tar Heels, and catching performances from the high school stage to DPAC!

Jessica Harrell

Jessica Harrell is excited to join the board of Orange Community Players. Her daughter, Elliana, first performed with OCP in The Music Man and declared after the very first rehearsal, “We’re doing this again next year!” Jessica had always assumed she’d be a band mom—she met her husband in high school band, after all—but instead she’s happily embraced life as a theater mom. Originally from New Orleans, Jessica prides herself on being someone who can get things done and throw a great party, two skills she believes are highly transferable to community theater. She’s excited to support OCP and help keep the spotlight shining on this wonderful organization.

Kaitlin Kamakura

Kaitlin Kamakura, an alumna of RagBag (now Randolph Youth Theater Company) and RSVP Theater in Asheboro, joined OCP for the 2024 production of The Music Man.  As an actor, tech person, and (as of 2025) co-director, Kaitlin loves being around theater people and working together to make each performance the best it can be!  When she’s not on or around a stage, Kaitlin works for the UNC School of Medicine.  She lives in Durham with her husband and their three cats.

Dawn Rasinske

Dawn Rasinske arrived to the OCP family at the same time as Megan when Dawn and her oldest son were in the production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever in 2012.  And that was the start of 1 Rasinske or all 6 Rasinskes being on stage, working tech crew or playing in or directing the orchestra of 8 more OCP productions.  Dawn’s favorite productions were when all 6 family members were involved in some capacity!  When Dawn is not doing “something OCP related” she can be found at the pool, listening to music, doing yoga, baking, and working as the Admissions & Assessment Coordinator at Wright School, in Durham.

Jessica Sandberg

Bio coming soon.

Sonya Sutton

Sonya Sutton is a former theater kid who joined OCP when her daughters were cast as orphans in the 2017 production of Annie.  Though she had no idea what she was getting into at the time, she loves the community OCP creates and looks forward to reconnecting with everyone each summer. Sonya has served as a parent volunteer, props coordinator, marketing committee chair, and has been a member of the Board since 2023. She works in research communications at Duke Clinical Research Institute and lives in Hillsborough with her husband, daughters, and dogs.

Roman Underwood

Roman Underwood first arrived at OCP with Music Man where he fell in love with the healthy and fun atmosphere of the group. In 2025 he stage managed for Seussical and learned so much and had lots of fun! He has stage managed for lots of productions and hopes to pursue stage management as a career.
